GABA RICE

Sprouted brown rice has four times the GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) content of regular brown rice. I use a ZOJIRUSHI induction heating pressure rice cooker which has a GABA rice setting. It says in the user's manual that cooking GABA rice might take over 3 hours to cook because in order to activate the brown rice, the inner pan "is kept at about 104ºF for 2 hours."

Day 1: Sprouting brown rice is like sprouting any kind of seed. I washed the brown rice and then soaked it filtered water for about 12 hours. I placed the rice in a colander and placed a wet towel over it.

Day 2 & 3: Soaked and rinsed the rice. Placed in colander and placed a wet towel over it.

Day 4: Cook

I think this homemade GABA rice may be superior to the store bought product because the aroma of this GABA rice cooking is unbelievably fragrant.
