GABA Rice Day 2

GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid)

this is what brown rice looks like after it has been soaked in water for 24 hours

soaked rice allowed to drain in colander for 24 hours

place a wet towel over the colander

warning: the sprouting process releases a distinct odor of vomit or garbage

occasionally rinse with water

sprouted brown rice after 48 hours

sprouted brown rice after 60 hours

your guess is as good as mine as to when the optimum time is to start cooking the rice

I imagine you can make GABA rice as soon as the rice has sprouted

I use a Zojirushi Induction Heating Pressure Rice Cooker set to GABA rice

this setting takes over 3 hours because the machine cooks the rice at 104ºF for 2 hours
